It has been a busy and exciting year for 16 year old Luke Mulholland. Luke, a grade 11 student at Toronto's prestigious Upper Canada College, has bucked the private school norm by pursing a career in Music, specifically rock and rock blues. Luke has been playing guitar for only 4 years, but quickly established himself amongst guitar aficionados as a guitar prodigy, exhibiting tone, sound and rifts far beyond his year.
Luke's music has always been based upon the blues and classic rock era and that is reflected in his original music. Author of over 30 original, recorded rock and rock blues songs, Luke is earning his stripes as an author, musician and performer.
Luke's, band Mulholland Drive, has been very busy this last year, opening up for some of Canada's best known bands and rock icons including opening two dates for April Wine, Chilliwack, Godo twice, Sue Foley and David Wilcox. The two April Wine 40 minute opening sets are available for viewing as QuickTime or MPEGS on this website.
January 2006 kicked off with a "bang" after Luke's song "Baby Stay with Me" was chosen by Kim Mitchell and Q107 as the Home Grown Winner and Opening for Bon Jovi. Luke and his band opened up for Bon Jovi in January before a sold out crowd at the Air Canada center in Toronto. Mulholland Drive played a 40 minute set of Luke's originals through a receptive and energetic pack house at the ACC. Luke's passion for classic rock music has not been lost on the media and Luke has appeared on Global national and City Pulse News at 6 pm Chronicling his experiences. Both these interviews are available for viewing in QuickTime and MEPG digital video on this website.
Luke is continuing his blistering pace this first quarter of 2006, by opening for the revered American early 70's rock band Mountain on Friday April 21st, 2006 at club Healey's in Toronto.
For Luke Mulholland fans, Friday, April 28th, 2006 will be a date to mark in your calendar as Luke and Mulholland Drive will be Headlining at Club Healey's for a night showcasing many of Luke's new originals and some original takes on classic covers. The doors open at 8:00 pm and Luke takes the stage for the first of two 60 minute sets at 9:45 pm and the second 60 minute set at 11:30 pm. 2006 should continue to be a great year for this young guitar prodigy.
